Traditional Medicine Workshops

Estela Roman, curandera from Cuernavaca will be conducting workshops and limpias at Sacred Circles Center in Whittier. Estela is an accomplished healer, teacher and author.  Her visits to the Los Angeles are rare, so I recommend that you do not miss this opportunity.  The workshops will include an introduction to the traditional healing practices (curanderismo) of Mexico with a special focus on the limpia (cleansing ceremony).

Body Therapy: Massage as holistic treatment (Part II)
Part I not required
Sunday October 25th, 2009 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. 
(2 hours of theory & 2 hours of practice)

Mexican massage methods and techniques are based on a deep knowledge of the body, its structure and the connection between bone, muscle, tendons and their relation with ailments, with emotional pain, as well as spiritual pain. The seminar will also focus on philosophical principles for developing and finding balance of mind-body-spirit-and heart within the client and within the practitioners. Throughout the course, an emphasis will be made on learning how to protect yourself and your client from emotional distress and airs (ailments) that may emerge in the massage process.

This Workshop focuses on the understanding of the spiritual world within our selves and its different levels in our consciousness and the role of the eternal feminine in our everyday life. As we use the different elements of healing including the enhancement of our senses: touch, sight, smell, taste, & hearing, we will be able to open up our consciousness and channels for healing, to nourish the soul and to harvest the love we need to achieve real connection with the spiritual world. Through practice and hands-on activities, the workshop will lead us to understand the meaning of engaging in the process of a real limpia in its different levels, physical, mental, spiritual and therefore emotional.

Estela will also be available for limpias (traditional spiritual cleansing ceremony) on October 29th, 30th and November 2nd by appointment only.

Appointments are limited. The cost is $40-$80 depending on the length of the session.
